Abstract

This eighth article in the series “An update in the search for scientific information” presents two databases that collect scientific literature on Healthcare Sciences from Spanish journals. The first one is the IBECS database, the Spanish Bibliographic Index on Healthcare Sciences, developed by the Institute of Health Carlos III and the Regional Medicine Library from the PAHO, which includes selected Spanish publications on Medicine and related disciplines. The second one is SciELO (Scientific Electronic Library Online), which includes Healthcare Sciences journals at full text and with free access.
These resources are undoubtedly very useful for healthcare professionals, because they facilitate the access and distribution of national scientific literature that might not be represented in the main international bibliographic databases.
