Abstract

The objectives of this paper were understand and to interpret the sense and the meaning that actors (practicing nurses in the position of students enrolled in continuing education programs) haven given to the management development and its image, the nursing image, within the practice context and its relationship with academic teaching over the decades of the 70s, 80s and 90s.
The work here presented in its conceptualisation of exploring has been addressed in a hospital setting, following Eisner´s “the –ego- as the instrument that embraces the situation, giving sense to it”, to the interpretation to what I have lived as an author, and what discussion groups have informed/manifested/perceived, and whom in turn, the actors of the discussion groups have mutually manifested through the use of body language, focusing on concrete items (with coherence, intuition and instrumental utility); in one word, in a perspective aimed at reflection. The quantitative data for this reflection-interpretation are not relevant.
