Abstract

The paper presented below attempts to face the way in which a biological fact such as death is constructed as a social phenomenon by nursing professionals in accordance with the process of institutionalisation which they are subject to once they become part of the systems of norms, regulations and singular social manners that conform the hospital institution. It is thus a reflection on the manner that death affects hospital personnel and, in turn, the way in which hospital personnel affects the process of death.
