Abstract
The aim of the study was to determine how much dairy products our sample consumes and to ascertain whether the recommended daily allowances are followed with regard to this food, tanking into account that the study population is highly interested in the promotion of health.
A written question form was used to collect the data, which was subsequently handed in personally. It was a descriptive cross-sectional study carried out from the beginning of September 2004 until mid February 2005. The questionnaires were filled out by the students who where present the classrooms corresponding to the first, second and third year, respectively, at the time the questionnaires were distributed. Students who were sitting in even rows were selected at random.
In the global assessment of dairy products (excluding cheese), year 1 obtained a mean of 4.2 portions daily, year 2 a 4.88 and year 3 a 6.64. Significant differences were observed between students of the entire three year programme. All students complied with the recommended daily allowances.
