Abstract

Thanks to the Psychiatric Reform of the 50’s, with the gradual closure of mental institutions, the new psychiatric ideology has favoured the creation of alternative resources in the community destined to rehabilitation. If it is true that a change was needed in the treatment of chronicity, it is also true to say that this was affected by the legal redtape and ethical scaffolding that emerged in these last few years. With this perspective, the nurse must base his or her intervention taking into account the abilities of the involved individuals, with the aim of designing an adequate care plan and in so doing to accomplish the marked objectives.
We will consider our cultural reality and that of the users from a social stigmatization of mental problems.
