Abstract

This paper presents the contents of a lecture given by the author at the XXVI Congress of the National Association of Paediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care at a round table on “Skills in nursing care”.

 The following points were addressed:

  1. The multiple scenarios that we might be faced with in an intensive care unit.
  2. Main elements of stress for the child and parents or family.
  3. The construction of care as a helping process for both children and parents.
  4. The need to lead nursing care as a professional objective and a satisfaction element of the nursing professional.
