Abstract

In this work, I have developed a theoretical draft project analysing mental health nursing interventions within the scope of the IPT programme (from the German, Integrated Therapeutic Programme). This programme has been designed for the psychosocial rehabilitation of schizophrenic patients and is formed by a package of strategies, the objective of which is to improve cognitive, social and managing skills to COPE with stressors, in accordance with the Callista Roy Adaptation Model. In this model, the individual is understood to be a living and open system that receives stimuli from the surrounding environment and from him/herself. The individual responds with a series of adaptation mechanisms aimed at achieving an optimal level of well being for the person and how the mental health nurse -through the five subprogrammes that compose the ITP programme- can help the human being to adapt to changes in his or her environment.
