Abstract
This article presents the curriculum of the maternity Nursing subject with a new teaching methodology in accordance with the European Higher Education guidelines, where the teaching activity must allow students to acquire their professional competence in conditions similar to those existing in the actual work setting. To this end, several cases are given to students as study material throughout the study course enabling them to go deeper into nursing care in the field of female health care.
The School of Nursing of the “Comunidad de Madrid” has ample experience in “Problem Based Learning” as a tool to acquire professional expertise and competence prior to the professional exercise of the profession. Another objective of such tool is to make the student acquire a good learning attitude throughout his or her entire life, which is necessary to keep up with the advances achieved in Nursing.
