Abstract

The article here depicted is a long-term pedagogic experience carried out on the first nine midwifery graduates from 1993 to 2004 and their philosophical approach to caring during labour and delivery. With a methodological work on the philosophy of the care theories and a discussion and reflection task carried out mainly by midwifery professionals, we were able to get their particular view on what a midwife should be for the closing speech marking the completion of their academic training.
