Abstract
The outburst of the Internet has caused a series of drastic changes in the way a large part of society communicates and retrieves information. However, the area where the influence of the Internet is more noticeable is in how professionals obtain and exchange information in all aspects concerning their training and also in the research activities that conform each profession.
This paper presents the background as well as the evolution and the most important concepts relating to the meaning and influence of the Internet for the development of the nursing discipline.
