Abstract

The main objective of this paper is to present a review of the multicultural reality we are experiencing nowadays as a result as the process of globalisation. This affects directly the daily work of our nursing professionals. Learning more about this reality will help our nurses face the new challenges and optimise the healthcare provided.
The acceptance and respect, the sensibility to understand how the different cultures influence relationship among different individuals, obliges us to use a cultural approach to disease. This new cultural vision is the root of Cross-Cultural Nursing as a new sociosanitary demand imposed by today´s society.
