Abstract

• The purpose of this article is to provide information regarding the therapeutic benefit derived from the application of musicotherapy in palliative care.
• The power of sound on the behavior of human beings is well known since the beginning of mankind, different studies have shown the benefits of musicotherapy in the physical, psychological and behavioral status of patients.
• This therapy can be applied at any stage in life (childhood, adolescence, adulthood and senescence) thanks to its multiple beneficial effects and easy application.
• Musicotherapy could be considered as a placebo, but there are certain subtleties that differentiate it from it.
