Abstract

The education and training of students in Geriatric Nursing is a challenge and a responsibility for schools and educators alike, since the students of today will be the professionals that in the future will be caring for the elderly population of our society. Hence, in the majority of cases, a good training translates into quality healthcare for our elderly also representing a benefit to our profession.
To agree on the most appropriate practicum system for students taking the course on Geriatric Nursing at the University of Cantabria School of Nursing to derive the maximum benefit, is the objective of the educators who teach this class. This lead us to a debate on the appropriateness of model currently used in such practicum classes.
