Abstract

This article attempts to show in an easy to understand manner the guidelines of a rigid bronchoscopy from the perspective of a nursing care protocol based on a Standardised Nursing Care Plan within the setting of Virginia Henderson’s model.
The characteristics of a rigid bronchoscope and the peculiarities of the pathology that indicate its use, as well as the need to subject the patient to a general anaesthesia protocol, given the characteristics of this exploration, represents a substantial difference with respect to fibrobronchoscopy; an exploration with less blood loss that is generally performed with the patient conscious and under sedation.
