Abstract

At a time when, more than ever before, the subject of conversation is the exchange of professionals within Europe, the exchange of teachers and pupils under the auspices of programs such as the Socrates or the Erasmus programs, the European convergence with treaties such as the Paris, Bologna and Berlin treaties, the unification of the different curriculums, including the calling for meetings of nursing professionals at a European level such as the Tunning group, meetings on the promotion of  leadership in the nursing career in Europe, research projects, etc., one should stop to think on those perceptions, sensations, and interpretations that flow to the surface when one travels abroad, leaving the boundaries of “our world” and our points of reference behind. It is these experiences that enable us to contrast our reality with the reality of other cultures, not far indeed, such as the European culture.

The exchange programs experiences that our school has established with Holland and the United Kingdom (UK) allow us to enrich our perspective, question ourselves about numberless things and also increase our level of uncertainty and insecurity. These experiences allow us to review the reference frameworks which we act by, enabling us to expand our perspectives and understanding of the facts from other perspectives.

This article presents the points of view of the authors, two teachers in a time and space, and the exchange experiences among three cultures; the English, the Dutch, and the Spanish in the field of nursing. The aim of the article is to share  these reflections, of which we are part, with that scientific community.
