Abstract

One of the biggest records of nursing is to delimit clearly its field of knowledge and this implies to gain more insight as to what care means, as it is the articulating nucleolus and identity of nursing against other disciplines.
The problem arises when we try to define the care and then we notice of how difficult, confusing and complex it is to express what we are and what we do.
With the aim of bringing this reality closer, a review of the literature has been carried out to try and address, from a historical point of view to the present time, the different meanings of nursing care.
The complexity entailed in defining the terms results in a lack of exact results. The aim is to promote the curiosity of the recipients for future reviews or own research works adherent to the practice of nursing practice.

“The practice of caring is central to nursing” (Watson, 1979)
