Abstract

Diabetic foot is a considered one of the major threats and one of the most incapacitating complications for diabetic patients.
The socio-economic, medical and psychosocial consequences of wounds involving the lower limbs in diabetic patients are enormous. The risk of amputation is higher in diabetic patients than that of the general population of a similar age. Lesions can become so severe that the individual may be at risk of having foot toes, the foot or even the leg amputated.
We will now describe a case report involving a 72-year-old woman who presents a neuropathic ulcer in the foot. A nursing care plan is developed, which includes objectives and nursing intervention implementation.
Primary Care nurses must pay special attention to the integral care of patients who have developed neuropathic ulcers of the foot.
