Abstract

In any database that is consulted, there is literature about the beneficial effects of moderate and continued physical exercise, either as a way of promoting health and preventing disease in healthy individuals or as a therapeutic measure in different diseases.
These considerations are applicable to many types of health disorders, including Down Syndrome.
If we take as reference a definition of health that encompasses all the areas covered by the conceptualization of person: physical, psychological, social and spiritual, we must take into account the benefits in the areas more complex than merely physical, such as social integration, improving self-esteem and developing a sense of belonging to a group, very important in people with impaired health.
