Abstract

Geronto-gymnastics is an activity that has a specific function: to establish healthy habits and attitudes through gymnastics exercises for the elderly, it improves the fitness of those who have some type of physical damage or locomotive problems. Gymnastics fosters a positive attitude in old age and helps them to be more optimistic when facing problems and limitations associated with old age. Exercise is a fundamental practice for any stage of our lives.
In the old age, whether the elderly is healthy or has some kind of pathology disabling, it is very beneficial to perform a small daily workout to work all muscle groups, move all joints, activate the work of cardio-respiratory system, as well as to exercise the cognitive functions as attention, memory, and the body schema.
For physical activity aimed at this population group to be beneficial it is necessary, as in other treatments, the cooperation of various types of professionals, both the doctor and physiotherapist, as well as the nurse, and the physical activity teacher they must work together to achieve these benefits which we know can be obtained.
