Abstract

The reflective journal is a method of learning, monitoring and evaluating used with nursing students doing clinical practice.
It is an account of events, theoretical concepts learned or put into practice, not merely sequential manner, but as reflections of experiences lived with the learning. It also involves an interactive process that allows the writer to face their own thoughts
Its usefulness is twofold as it serves both as an assessment tool for the teacher and as a learning method for the student.
This paper describes the experience of a second year Diploma in Nursing student during her first period of practice work.
