Abstract

The objective of this paper was to design a proposal for the creation of an Early Stimulation Unit in fetal stage in pregnant women who are seen at the Prenatal Unit at the “Don Felipe Ponte” outpatient offices in Cabudare, Lara, Venezuela. The methodology used was based on the modality of a “Feasible Project”, developed in three phases: Phase I or Diagnostic Phase, which determined the need to create the unit through the application of a survey type instrument in a sample composed of 33% of the total universe of pregnant women. Phase II or Feasibility Phase comprises the market technical and financial studies, the objective of which was to determine the feasibility for the execution of the proposal. Phase III or Proposal Design, both phases were developed in January and June 2003, proposing an organisational structure that enabled the pregnant woman, the medical team, and the teaching staff of the Lisandro Alvarado University to favour the integral development of the child from within the wound.  The results showed that apart from the need to create the unit, perceived as a very strong need, it was also a feasible project comprising a perspective where prenatal care in pregnant women would become a fundamental pillar to achieve the objectives of prenatal health policies in Venezuela.
