Donación de sangre en el colectivo universitario

Resumen

La sangre es un tejido vivo que no sabemos fabricar. Como es un recurso terapéutico, en muchas situaciones de la práctica asistencial se hace necesario que las personas sanas contribuyan solidariamente donando una cantidad de sangre periódicamente. Esta práctica no es perjudicial para la salud física y contribuye al bienestar psicológico de la persona donante.
Entre la población con la que se cuenta para la donación están los estudiantes universitarios.
Este trabajo se ha llevado a cabo siguiendo el proceso y metodología de la investigación cuantitativa. En el mismo se ha pretendido:

Conocer, en la medida de lo posible, el grado de información respecto a la donación de sangre que tiene el colectivo universitario.
Describir el perfil del donante y del no donante.
Intentar conocer el motivo por el cual los “no donantes” no donan y la justificación que tiene el donante para realizar este acto.
Aprender a realizar un estudio de investigación utilizando, en este caso, la metodología de la investigación cuantitativa.

Para la realización de la investigación se repartieron doscientas encuestas entre el colectivo universitario. Tras la recogida, se procedió a la tabulación y a la obtención de conclusiones.

Blood donation in the university community

Abstract:

Blood is a living tissue that cannot be manufactured. Since it is a therapeutic resource in many situations of daily healthcare practice, it is necessary that healthy people contribute with solidarity by donating blood regularly. This practice does not damage health and contributes towards the psychological well being of the donor.

University students are among those subjects of the population that donate blood.
This work has been conducted following the process and methodology of quantitative research. The aim of the work was:

To determine as much as possible the degree of information with regard to blood donation of the university community.
To describe the donor’s profile and the non donor profile.
To attempt to determine the reason why “non donors” do not donate blood and the justification of the donor to donate blood.
To learn to conduct a research study using, in this case, quantitative research methodology.

To carry out this research project, 200 surveys were distributed among university students. After collection of the surveys, the answers were tabulated and conclusions drawn.
