It is important to respond to the most frequently asked questions that surface when we are about to take on a research project. These questions are answered from the perspective of sociology, a discipline in which nurses are starting to carry out numerous research projects. 
Sociology can be of much use as the theoretical basis of the nursing thinking process. This sort of questions range from determining how the sample size must be, looking at possible hypotheses in quantitative research to determining how Delphi studies are carried out. In qualitative research, research in interdisciplinary groups stands out and questions posed are “what should the principal investigator’s role be”?, how should in-depth interviews be conducted?, what should be the investigator’s role in participating observation? and the importance of analysing human attitudes as the basis for social research.
