Title:

Nursing Approach with Controlled Flow Electrolyzed Acid Solution of a Skin Injury Secondary to Cat Scratch Disease

Abstract:

Cat scratch disease is caused by the Bartonella henselae bacteria, and it usually occurs with feverish episodes and lymphadenopathy. We present the case study of a 57-year-old patient who presented skin complications at the inoculation site, with the appearance of necrotic tissue and signs of critical colonization. The approach was carried out by a nursing team at the patient's home applying the TIME strategy. The wound healed by using flow electrolyzed acid solution, ionic silver dressings and compression therapy. The use of controlled flow electrolyzed acid solution has an important positive effect during the healing process, favors the debridement of necrotic tissue and the control of infection. Clinical trials are needed to confirm the safety and efficacy of this product in the treatment of wounds.
