Abstract
The people we attend in the scope of Family and Community Nursing, especially the elderly, are fearful to manifest their memory problems as these individuals associate memory loss with dementia. However, these frequent memory alterations do not necessarily obey to situations compatible with dementia and could definitely improve with proper training.
The present work depicts the design and elaboration of a memory activation programme for use within a community context aimed at improving the ability to remember and consequently foster the development of daily activities on the part of the population. The evaluation of a pilot test has shown the project’s feasibility, improved ability to remember things, and the acceptance of the participants, as well as the need to received continued care in order to achieve a better performance of the attitudes which the programme intends to enhance.
