Abstract

Adaptation to the European Higher Education Area entails great changes in teaching methodologies traditionally employed by university teaching staff. The main objective of these new methods is to “teach how to learn”, promoting participative teaching that allows a greater involvement of students and stimulates them in the acquisition of a series of competences, abilities and attitudes.
This article describes an academically-guided activity that aims mainly to achieve the integration of knowledge and acquisition of a series of cross-sectional competences by the students of the Algeciras School of Nursing. Results obtained from data analysis of a satisfaction survey that was completed by participating students are also described. The purpose of this activity is to launch problem-based learning methodology (PBL) to promote self-learning capacity of teaching staff and students.
