Abstract
In this work, the relationship between the activities performed by the midwives in Primary Health Care and the Training Program of Maternal Nursing Specialisation (Midwife) is analysed.
For this analysis, the following are studied:
1. The aspects that have influenced the evolution and setting up of Educational Units of Midwifery: The transformation of Schools for Health Technician Assistant in University Nursing Schools, the Reform of Primary Health Care and the Spanish incorporation to the European Community.
2. The list of activities regulated by Circular 5/91 for the Midwifes of Primary Care, with the Educational Program of the Specialisation.
It is concluded that the activities performed by midwives are not always related to previous training, but depend on the Services of Primary Heatlh Care, the Nursing Management and the population assigned to the midwives.
