Abstract
A multidisciplinary healthcare team belonging to the Corporació Parc Taulí (C.P.T.) of Sabadell (Barcelona, Spain) has produced a set of Clinical Practice Guidelines for the patient receiving Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT). The purpose of these guidelines is to ensure homogenous and consensus criteria that enable the provision of high quality healthcare.
Nursing care, as well as the task performance on the part of other members of the team, is presented in two stages, a pre- ECT stage and a post-ECT stage. These stages are, in turn, subdivided into activities and tasks undertaken in the hospitalisation unit as well as in the recovery room.
