Abstract
This article describes in a narrative and journalistic style the measures that were taken by the different healthcare personnel to handle the tragedy of the collapse of a furniture sales store in Sevilla, with special emphasis on the measures taken at the Hospital de Valme. The objectives of the report, which were at no time intended to analyse or grade such measures in any great length, were:
* To provide a chronological account of the events that took place on that day.
* To provide a written account and testimony of the evacuation process, distribution and allocation of patient beds for the injured that were put into effect.
* To describe the parallelism between the measures actually undertaken and the recommendations that are in place for such instances.
* To write a report on the incidences occurred at the Hospital de Valme and the contingency measures undertaken in this centre until the emergency situation had totally resolved.
