Abstract

The aim of this work is to become familiarised with the norms and criteria that enable effective poster presentations. To this end, the norms required in congresses and workshops and other scientific nursing meetings, held during the first four months of 2001, as well as the Uniform Criteria issued by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and other current bibliography on the subject, were reviewed. The results of this study allow one to conclude that in order to achieve an effective poster a coherent methodology has to be followed in terms of content distribution, utilisation of the space available and the employment of colours, apart from taking into account the general presentation norms as required by the organisers of the scientific event where the poster is to be featured and the uniform requirements recommended by the ICMJE.
