In any Neonatal Unit, very low birth weight neonates represent an important nursing problem as they are in need of appropriate vascular access routes for the administration of intravenous therapies and parenteral nutrition, having a limited number of points of access and needing frequent venopunctures to get them.

Due to the importance of this problem, NICU nurses are developing new working lines adapted for the more and more premature neonates.
