Abstract
This article proposes three strategies aimed towards the development of the nursing profession in the community: professional training, an exercise focused on the community’s natural groups, meaning non-medical groups, and an exercise that stimulates the community to generate and mobilize resources. These strategies are rooted in the origins of Community Nursing, as they link us to our past and allow us to build a possible future. However, the biomedical way of thinking greatly hinders Primary Care nursing from focusing on the community, its natural groups and the mobilization of its capacities.
