Abstract
Introduction: Pressure Ulcers are an important health care due to their incidence and prevalence. To prevent the development of ulcers it is necessary to have the necessary tools that enable us to detect which patients at risk. Patients admitted into Intensive Care present multiple and specific risk factors. Nowadays, there is no reliable and proven assessment scale available to determine the risk in critical patients. The objective of this study is to determine the reliability of the Actual Risk Assessment Scale to develop pressure ulcers in the ICU.
Material and methods: two methodological strategies were implemented: Analysis of the differences in measurement amongst observers as compared to a theoretical standard and concordance analysis amongst 7 observers in a simultaneous observation. The t Student test was used for the contrast of measurements. Confidence intervals were calculated and the Intraclass Correlation Coefficient of simultaneous measurements.
Results: the mean of the differences between two consecutive measurements was x=1,15 and s=1,28. An ICC of 0,9762 was obtained.
