Abstract
Patients in Intensive Care Units are especially susceptible to Nosocomial infection for several reasons: the pathology that required their admission in the hospital, the diagnosis/therapeutic interventions they have to undergo, the large quantity of medication their treatment requires, etc. Moreover, there is an added risk in these units and others alike: germs that are multi-resistant to conventional anti-biotherapy, which in some cases trigger epidemic outbreaks and remain endogenous in the Units. Due to the presence of an Acinetobacter baumannii Multi-resistant outbreak (represented by two peaks of infection), control measures adopted for its eradication are described. The launching and maintenance of these measures (strict isolation, staged cultures and restriction of the antibiotic policy) have proved to be an adequate control mechanism.
