Abstract
Modern nursing is characterised by the employment of a methodology and is fundamented on a solid scientific base that was largely developed during the second half of the XX century. Nevertheless, prior to that time, in our country there already existed documented testimonials written by nurses showing great interest for a methodological practice, characterised by rigorous work and dedicated teaching to the future nursing professionals. This paper depicts one of said texts that was finished in the mid XVII century and that showed a deep concern for the employment of a nursing method in the delivery of direct healthcare and teaching standards based on the knowledge available at that time, with the intention of establishing the differences between a nurse’s personal way of providing the nursing care as opposed to that of other healthcare professionals.
