Title:
The right to privacy and the electronic patient file
Abstract:
The aim of this article if to analyze the right to privacy and the application of IT in the management of healthcare services. For this purpose, the norms and information sources that govern the possible existing relation-tension between the right to information and the right to privacy as well as the regulations on personal data protection were studied, emphasizing data relating to the health status of individuals. The admission of the clinical history in any format is brought to discussion, being its electronic form what most administrators hope for. Nurses have access to the clinical history to enable them to provide the required nursing services, safeguarding the confidentiality pertaining to the patient's personal details.
