Abstract

      The incorporation of new computer science technologies is a gradual process that is increasingly present in our society and in our medical profession. The impact on health of the Fourth Industrial Revolution can be measured by the advances in biotechnology and genetic engineering, as well as the potential of artificial intelligence and data analysis.
Value-based medicine is prompting a revolutionary change in the use and connectivity of health care resources. In addition, patients are becoming increasingly connected and can be provided with clinical measurements in real time and the tools for self-management of clinical conditions. Therefore, the patient will be at the centre of the health care process and, this will promote shared decision making with their health care professionals.
Health care is an act of interrelation that requires scientific and technological knowledge, but also an understanding of the cultural context within which the recipients of health care live, work, and fall ill. The use of information and communication technologies optimizes health care processes, and, in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, nursing care is still an essential tool to provide high-quality health care.
