Abstract
In this paper we present the case of an 89-year-old patient undergoing cardiac catheterization, in which an important severe
coronary calcification was observed throughout the area of the anterior descending artery. Assessing the patient‘s clinical situation
and, after discussion by the multidisciplinary team, percutaneous intervention was decided to treat this injury, during the course of
which an unusual complication occurred, that is, rupture of the balloon tube, becoming trapped inside said artery. This unexpected event
made it necessary to proceed with the extraction of said «foreign body» via different techniques, finally using the double-guidewire
technique plus trapping, with which the complication could be resolved and the foreign body extracted, with no angiographic data of
dissection, perforation, or thrombosis, with an open artery and reasonable distal flow, although severe stenosis of the vessel persisted
