    Abstract

Introduction and objectives. Heart failure represents a socio-health challenge due to its high prevalence and clinical severity. For this reason, the need for early detection of decompensation in heart failure has been raised through the alert generated by the novel HeartLogic and «sleep inclination» sensors incorporated into implantable defibrillators. Our objective was to carry out a clinical action protocol and the subsequent analysis of the generated alerts and clinical events.

Material and methods. This was a single-center, observational, longitudinal and prospective study. Patients were followed up through consultations carried out by the nursing staff of the electrophysiology and heart failure units. The protocol consisted of care actions and the monitoring of patients with defibrillators with the aforementioned sensors, which generate a decompensation alert that is sent via telematic consultation to healthcare personnel. Once this alert is generated, the patient is scheduled for a follow-up analysis and an in-person consultation to detect clinical events.

Discussion. The aim was to avoid hospitalizations or visits to the emergency room of these patients without excessively increasing the personnels’ workload. The association between the number of alerts and clinical events (real or unexplained alerts) was also be evaluated. To date, it has involved early action, solving potential problems detected before a worsening of the clinical situation occurred, with a low rate of unexplained alerts.
