Abstract

This article depicts the care plan of a patient with acute myeloid leukaemia admitted into the Unit of Haematology of Hospital La Paz, elaborated during a period of clinical learning. The aim of the plan is to contribute to the learning process on how to cure by applying a theoretical model as framework.
The self-care Dorothea Orem´s model was chosen for it is a fundamental reference point for the principles and values that guide the education offered at the La Paz School of Nursing.
The nursing care plan was elaborated for a 36- year old patient admitted to receive a cycle of intensification chemotherapy due to recurrent leukaemia. After completion of the treatment, a nursing assessment takes place to detect the self-care deficit and an intervention plan was elaborated detailing the care actions to be taken and the outcome criteria.
