Main aspects of the job responsibilities of a nurse at the Colegio Santa María (Toledo)

Abstract
In a full and wide context, education aims at achieving the harmonic and integral development of the individual.
Health education is a fundamental piece of school education as part of an integral educational approach. The school setting is the ideal setting to carry out health educational tasks in view of the wide age ranged covered (mandatory up to the age of 16). Because it is an extensive and comprehensive program, it allows the acquisition of knowledge, habits and health life styles in a gradual and systematic way in the school setting.
Specialised literature shows a recent switch towards community or public health issues. Qualitative studies are of special relevance for professionals.
The basic characteristics of qualitative studies can be summarised in that these are investigations focusing on the subjects that adapt to an “interior” perspective, taking the phenomenon to be studied in an integral manner.
As part of the qualitative investigation, the interview was chosen as the investigation technique because the richness of information comes from the information provided by the individual from his or her own perspective and experiences lived, as well as from their own point of view on things.
The main objective of this analysis is to determine the main aspects of the role of the school nurse. It is not that common for a school to have a nurse on duty, and even less common for that same nurse to also perform an educational role. According to our information, in Toledo there are only two schools with a nurse on site, Colegio Santa Teresa school and Colegio Santa Maria.
