Abstract

This paper groups together different papers relating to female ablation. A bibliographic search was carried out of the papers best explaining about what the procedure is about, the consequences on the woman’s health, the cultures and geographical areas where it is performed and the diversity of mutilations women are currently being subjected to.
In addition, other papers relating to the prevention and possible eradication of this procedure by means of awareness campaigns and organisations dedicated to protect women are presented.
