Abstract
Nursing practice is constantly faced with the identification of problems, the objective of which is not just to fight disease, but also to satisfy a wide range of human needs whose assessment and diagnosis are an important part of current nursing activity.
The scientific method through which this is achieved is the Nursing Attention Process.
One of the greatest contributors to nursing science theory, Dorothea Elizabeth Orem, established a conceptual model based on self-care deficit, addressing this aspect as a human need. In Nursing Systems, the most general of her theories, she refers to self-care and the deficit thereof, thus defining the structure and content of the nursing profession. We decided to carry out this project motivated by the idea that the self-care deficit model proposed by this key researcher can be accepted and applied to the Nursing Attention process, and confident that it can contribute to improving performance quality of health services.
