Abstract

To meet its objectives, nursing practice requires the conception and application of a model or method. The Margaret A. Newman’s model focuses on health as an element through which consciousness expands, in such a manner that all human beings in any situation, may reach higher levels of consciousness as a result of being continuously connected with the universe’s open system.
The application of this theory in a practical setting allows the recognition of patterns by means of a authentic relation subject to subject to collaborate in the discovery of new forms of life that enable the individual to become a human being with a superior level of consciousness.
