Abstract

The performance of a gastric pumping consists in the introduction of a thick-calibre, hollow catheter with multiple piercing at the distal tip and that is pushed down into the stomach cavity to pump put blood, toxic substances or any other type of substance by the irrigation and aspiration of small volumes of liquid. The amount of liquid irrigated will depend on the patient’s age. The recommended volume in paediatrics is 10 ml/kg without exceeding 200-300 ml/cycle.
