Abstract

In primary health care nursing rooms, we find patients with chronic diseases. The experience of the disease is closely related to the patient's culture but it can be very different even if the professional and the patient share the same culture.
Anthropology gives us a better understanding of the personal, social, and cultural experience of health and disease, promoting attitudes of respect and professionalism.
Knowing the culture of our patients can be a tool for controlling and monitoring their health disorders. Knowing the previous beliefs of users gives us a base to develop our work with more quality.
This work is part of the course Anthropology of Health as a part of the Official Master of Nursing Science course from the University of Alicante.
