A study of educational intervention for workers at the School of Nursing, Santiago de Cuba, in the period from october 2009 to february 2010 with the aim of improving knowledge in the prevention of respiratory diseases. The study group consisted of 120 non-teaching staff, 32 of them were selected through simple random sampling, taking into account the work location of the 16 departments of the center, two workers were selected from each these departments, which were administered a tutoring program for five months with a total of 22 hours every 15 days (Tuesdays and Thursdays). The MC Nemar method, the percentage method and hypothesis testing were used; we worked with a 95% and an error of 0,05 type. The level of knowledge about the prevention of respiratory diseases was successfully raised, allowing to create health promoters who help deploy security measures for workers and their families.
