Abstract

The incidence of cases that require cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is a health problem that affects both families and society. The lack of knowledge about the process, contribute to the poor recovery of patients who don’t receive specialized help. Training was carried out in an area of the Josué País García Polyclinic in Santiago de Cuba, in the second half of 2009. The whole sample consisted of 20 families of which 49 members were selected by the families themselves for training. The sample answered a questionnaire before beginning the training, to identify the learning needs and which allowed the development of the program education with the aim of training families on cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques, addressing the basics to ensure survival. The main results were obtained by answering a questionnaire at the beginning and at the end of the course to establish a comparison and to validate the modifications, testing was performed using descriptive statistics (frequency) as a percentage, the results were evident, showing that intervention was effective, the skills acquired will help the actions of each trainee and their family when a situation requires it.
