Abstract
Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the quality of the structure, content and design of 459 oral poster type presentations presented at a scientific nursing meeting held in 2010.
Method: We conducted a cross-sectional study for 4 months; the selection of the posters was by fulfilling the inclusion criteria and not meeting the exclusion criteria. It was considered necessary to create a checklist that would easily evaluate the quality of the structure and content of the poster. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 17.0.
Results: The evaluation of the quality of the posters, 17.1% (n = 79) received a score of 14, (excellent quality). 45.5% (n = 209) achieved between 12-13 points, (good quality). 22.1% (n = 101) obtained a score of 7-11, (medium quality). 15.3% (n = 70) was of poor quality because they got a score <6 or it did not include some of the sections of the structure and content of the poster.
Conclusions: Over half of the posters presented at the congress of nursing held in 2010 had a good to excellent quality, indicating that there are many nurses who have sufficient knowledge about the development of posters.
