Abstract
Objective: To define the meaning of friendship to older men.
Material and methods: 32 older men answered a questionnaire via a personal interview.
Results: For men, a friend is someone with whom you have a good time, a relationship between equals or someone with whom they can talk. Almost all respondents share characteristics with regard to age, sex and marital status.
Conclusions: Men share certain activities with friends. The emotions or affection were not mentioned. There are similar characteristics between groups of friends.
